The National Association of REALTORS(R) reported today that Remodeling Magazine’s annual report shows that “maintenance-related projects and moderately priced upgrades are providing stable paybacks, even in a slower market.”
This report looks at the cost of various home improvements and additions compared with the resale value the improvement adds to the home. According to this report your money is best spent on upscale fiber cement siding which adds 86% of it’s cost to the resale value of your home, followed by a mid-range wood deck at 81.8% and mid-range vinyl siding at 80.7%. The top 9 projects are all maintenance or energy related with the 10th being a midrange kitchen remodel.
