Today the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) reported that U.S. home prices rose 0.3 percent on a seasonally-adjusted basis from June to July and are down 4.2 percent for the past year.

Today the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices report was released which showed the S&P/Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price Index recorded a 14.9 percent deline in the second quarter of 2009 versus the 2nd quarter of 2008. Today the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices report was released which showed that, although still negative, the annual rate of decline of the 10-City and 20-City Composites improved for the fourth consecutive month in 2009.

Today the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices report was released which indicated that home prices in the 20 metro areas they report were down 19% in January from a year ago.

Yesterday Standard & Poor’s released its S&P/Case-Shiller report for 2008 which shows record price declines for the year.
The S&P/Case-Shiller report shows that nationally home prices dropped 18.2% in the 4th quarter of 2008 versus the 4th quarter of 2007 which represents the largest drop in the 21 year history of the report.
